New York City (Part 2)

Alriiight, continuation of New York City from the first part! Here is the second part!

I forgot to mention that I did not passed Empire State Building, even though it's the tallest building in New York City. So… No pictures for this place. With that, I’ll continue with the other places.

Ground Zero

Area of Ground Zero
Ground Zero is a passing site, but I managed to take a picture of it. This place is where the events of 11th September took place. They are rebuilding the WTC, and its almost finished. Next to the building is flat ground with construction machines around. In my opinion, they are going to build another tower.

Statue of Liberty

Ah, visiting the icon of U.S.A and see it with my own eyes… I felt rather lucky~ :>

To see the Statue of Liberty, one must ride the ferry to Liberty Island. There are two places from where it departs – New Jersey or Battery Park. Apparently, there are choices on buying which set do we want, whether it’s only the ferry or along with the audio tour. The costs of tickets with the audio tour are as follows:

Adult: $17.00
Senior (62 years and older): $14.00
Child (4-12 years, Under 4 free): $9.00

*Prices are from an information stand

In addition, from my ticket, it was mentioned that the audio tour is $4.00… Though I am not sure if this is for all age categories though.

Anyway, riding the ferry… Takes about 15 minutes to arrive, I assume. I was dropped off in a different port than the normal port as at that time, the normal port is full. The normal ferry ride from Battery Park would take the passengers to Ellis Island first, with the choice of going down or stay to go to Liberty Island.

Liberty Island sighted!
After dropping off, we may take the audio tour. I did not listen too much on the audio tour though as it seemed to me that its mostly about going inside the Statue of Liberty, in which I did not.

The Statue of Liberty

Ha, here it is! The Statue of Liberty, live! It’s huge alright! Some info though, it was said that the six sides of the bottom of the statue represents the six continents, with South America and North America separated. Also, as others may know, this statue was a gift from French as a symbol of friendship with the Americans.

Random tips: Try buying an ice cream with the waffle cone and take a picture acting like the statue with the statue itself as the background! :D [Inner voice: yeah, I did that. With additional Samsung as the book too. (Modern book)]

Wall Street

Statue of Charging Bull

The statue of Charging Bull, not directly in front of the New York Stock Exchange though. It signifies ‘Bullish' or the prosperity of the Stock Exchange. Uh, nothing much to say, except for the sculpture is well-made and that its too crowded that its hard to take a picture without someone else’s sleeve in the picture.

New York Stock Exchange

Federal Hall National Memorial
Here is the New York Stock Exchange. I did not get much information about this place, except that this stock exchange is the largest stock exchange in the world. Nearby here is the Federal Hall National Memorial, where Washington was inaugurated as the President of United States. There is the statue of the first President of United States.

[Inner voice: Um, I find the two buildings to be rather similar... (Just saying :> )]

Oh wait, part 2 is done? Right, it is shorter than the first part since… The first part’s places of interest are mostly connecting and it is possible to have a walking tour around those areas.

Next stop, Philadelphia!

Extras: New York City view from New Jersey! [Panoramic]

*slightly edited because its very dark
